Why make
Nichijoyaku?
Contemporary Japanese and fidelity to the source: two goals that must be examined together.
Nichijoyaku was created using AI. A complete review by human biblical-language and biblical-studies specialists has not been established. Read alongside established translations and original-language resources.
For readers unfamiliar with church language
The saved translation instructions target Japanese readers in their twenties whose everyday reading is online, especially those without a Christian background. They call for familiar language, avoidance of archaic endings, and meaning conveyed in context rather than unexplained church terminology.
When accessibility conflicts with faithfulness, the instructions prioritize the original meaning. This evidence collection contains no reader-comprehension study demonstrating that these goals were achieved.

The saved configuration favors dynamic or functional equivalence: natural Japanese that conveys meaning, with restructuring where needed. Its theological setting is Protestant evangelical. The project should not be presented as interpretation-free or tradition-neutral.
Moderately inclusive language is specified for genuinely generic references, while explicitly gendered references retain that distinction. Key theological terms are to remain consistent, with contextual variation elsewhere.
Supporting record ↗ style.jsonFounded out of a concern about access
The requester described the founding motivation on October 3, 2026: modern translations are too restricted by copyright and are not easily and openly available. Nichijoyaku aims to make a contemporary Japanese translation more openly accessible.
This motivation is not a legal assessment of every existing translation. The open-source and contribution pages now state the maintainer, reuse terms and ways to participate.
